Brad focuses his practice on energy and infrastructure projects, renewable energy and cross-border M&A transactions in the Asia Pacific region.

Brad is a member of the energy and infrastructure team. His practice focuses on project development and finance, mergers and acquisitions, and cross-border transactions regarding energy projects in Southeast Asia.

Brad has extensive international experience, having worked on projects in Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, India, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Bulgaria, and the United States.

Relevant Experience

  • Borrower’s counsel in the US$790 million financing of a 552MW coal-fired power generation facility and 13km transmission line in the Philippines by a syndicate of local and international banks, including additional financing in relation to an expansion of the project.
  • Sponsors’ counsel in relation to the development and equity support instruments for the financing of an approximately US$1.1 billion, 1,200MW supercritical coal-fired power generation facility in the Philippines.
  • Represented Electricity Generating Public Company (Thailand) in its US$453 million acquisition of the AES Corporation’s minority interest in a 630MW power plant located in the Philippines.
  • Lender’s counsel in the financing of an approximately US$15 million, 10MW AC photovoltaic solar plan in Cambodia.
  • Advised owners/sponsors in relation to US$1.2 billion divestment by US-based investor of its 40% interest in a 1,200MW power generation facility and its 83% interest in a 660MW power generation facility in the Philippines.
  • Represented private equity firms in the US$235 million mixed equity/debt investment in an approximately US$600 million mixed-use skyscraper and retail building project in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • Continuing representation of developer, owner and operator of three coal-fired power projects in the Philippines, including amendments to project and finance documents and changes to the joint venture structure of each project.
  • Owner’s counsel in relation to the lease of 68MW mobile gas turbines with a net capacity of 100.3MW to the state-owned transmission company in Myanmar and bid for an independent power project in Myanmar.
  • Advised a Thai energy company in relation to the acquisition of an equity interest in and continued development of a portfolio of over 100MW of solar energy facilities in Japan and Laos.
  • Advised a Thai wind energy developer in relation to its engineering, procurement and construction contracts with a Chinese contractor.
  • Represented a multinational insurance group in the acquisition and reorganization of a Thai-based insurance company with subsidiaries throughout Southeast Asia.
  • Represented an international airline catering company in the establishment of a joint venture with a Ghanaian state-owned company.
  • Represented an Australian company in the establishment of a mining company in Ghana.
