Brian counsels both public and private sector employers on all aspects of the employment relationship, with a focus on providing sound advice, implementing practical and effective practices, and vigorously protecting his clients’ rights during litigation.

Brian has extensive experience representing companies before federal and state courts, as well as numerous agencies that enforce federal, state, and/or local laws, rules, or regulations impacting the workplace, including the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, the National Labor Relations Board, the Florida Commission on Human Relations, the Florida Public Employees Relations Commission, and the Florida Unemployment Appeals Commission. Brian also assists companies in all areas of labor and employment law, including the management of relationships with both public and private sector labor organizations, the management of human resources and other aspects of the employment relationship, and the development of sound personnel policies, practices, and training programs. Brian received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tampa in 1996, and his law degree from the Florida State University College of Law in 2001. He began his legal career in Florida in August 2001, where he practiced with a sole focus on management-sided labor and employment law. Brian was recognized as one of Florida’s “Legal Elite Up and Coming” by Florida Trend Magazine, and as a "Rising Star" by Florida Super Lawyer Magazine. He is a former minor league baseball player, and was inducted into the University of Tampa Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006, as part of the school’s 1993 National Champion Baseball Team. Brian relocated to Virginia in 2013, and joined the firm’s Labor and Employment Team in January 2014. He is licensed in both Florida and Virginia, and is admitted to practice in the Northern, Middle and Southern District of Florida.

Relevant Experience

  • Private Sector Labor-Management Relations Litigation: Assisted in the successful defense of NLRB Petition for Section 10(j) relief, including interim bargaining order. Has represented numerous clients, including Fortune 500 companies, before the National Labor Relations Board in matters relating to the defense of unfair labor practice charges and election petitions. Represented Fortune 500 Company, as well as other private sector clients, in labor arbitrations to resolve disputes involving contractual interpretation and employee discipline, among other issues.
  • Wage & Hour Litigation & Advice: Assisted Fortune 500 Company in the defense of class action overtime claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and represented numerous other companies in defense of wage-based single plaintiff claims. Represented numerous companies during wage audits conducted by United States Department of Labor.
  • Employment-Based Civil Rights Litigation: Assisted Fortune 500, Fortune 1000, and other clients in the defense of employment-based harassment, retaliation, and discrimination claims through trial in both state and federal court. Represented Fortune 1000 client for the purpose of defending charges of discrimination filed with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state and local agencies Fair Employment Practices Agencies nationwide.
  • Public Sector Labor-Management Relations Litigation and Advice: Represented public sector client in numerous due process hearings involving employee discharge and discipline, as well as impasse hearings to resolve disputes concerning negotiation of collective bargaining agreement.
  • Immigration and Related Advice: Represented numerous companies during audits by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement to assess compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and related Form I-9 compliance.
  • Management Training: Has provided dozens of seminars and related management training to both private and public sector clients concerning all aspects of the employment relationship and compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations impacting the workplace.
