George’s practice focuses on project finance and mergers and acquisitions, representing independent power producers, equity investors, project sponsors, financial institutions, and governments in the development, financing and mergers and acquisitions of power, oil and gas, LNG, and other infrastructure projects in the United States, Africa, Latin America and Europe.

George previously worked in the financial sector for Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Cantor Fitzgerald.

Representative Experience

Project Development and Finance

  • Represented a US private equity sponsor and a South Africa-based borrower in connection with the development and project financing of two solar projects in South Africa, with a capital cost of more than US$100 million
  • Represented Nordex USA, a German wind turbine manufacturer and project developer, in connection with US$110 million project and receivable sale financing of Synergics/Roth Rock wind project with Bayern LB located in Maryland
  • Represented BBVA Compass Bank as lenders in connection with $100 million receivable financing to a leading Chinese telecommunications company
  • Represented a US private equity sponsor and a South Africa-based borrower in connection with development and project financing of a wind project in South Africa, with a capital cost of more than US$50 million
  • span>Represented Credit Suisse in a US$65 million structured secured financing for the Iron Mountain concentrator project in Utah
  • Represented the Administrative Agent and various European banks in the “take-back-the-keys” restructuring of the Pocahontas Parkway toll road in Virginia, which includes the Route 895 Connector and an approximately 1.58 mile, four-lane roadway with direct access to the Richmond International Airport known as the Richmond Airport Connector
  • Represented an affiliate of Abengoa Bioenergy in the development and financing of a combined cellulosic ethanol production facility and related biomass-fired power plant in Kansas
  • Represented Abeinsa Business Development as borrower in a bilateral loan made by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation to finance the acquisition of a GE turbine to be installed in Abengoa’s Mojave solar project
  • Represented Idaho Wind Partners 1LLC as project counsel and RP Wind ID LLC, its managing member, in connection with its acquisition of equity in and the development, construction, financing and operation of a 183 MW portfolio of wind farms under long-term power purchase agreements with Idaho Power
  • Advised lenders in closing the financing to the Meridiam-led consortium for the long-term concession to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain the Long Beach Court House and associated facilities, the first social infrastructure project of its kind in the US
  • Represented Bayerisch Hype-Undvereinsbank AG and Unicredit Bank in connection with $455 million letter of credit for pipes and other equipment purchases from China and India related to the construction of a gas pipeline in California
  • Represented Puma Energy in connection with the refinancing of its acquisition of Exxon-Mobil’s Central American downstream assets located in six Central American jurisdictions
  • Represented Plum Point Energy Associates LLC in a US$890 million financing of a 65 MW coal-fired generating facility located in Arkansas

Mergers and Acquisitions

  • Represented a major solar power developer in connection with the acquisition of an equity interest in, and structuring of joint venture arrangements for a 200 megawatt (AC) solar energy production facility project located in Nevada
  • Represented a major solar power developer and solar panel manufacturer in connection with the acquisition of an approximately 300 megawatt (AC) solar energy production facility project located in California
  • Represented of Nordex (USA), Inc. in connection with development and sale to Exelon of first phase of 300 MW wind project in Michigan
  • Represented one of Japan's largest information technology and electronics companies in connection with its acquisition of a US-based privately telecommunication service company with operations in the US, UK, Russia, India, Ukraine and Australia
