Profile

An associate with the firm’s corporate team, Judy Li is resident in the Beijing office.

With more than 5 years of experience, Judy has helped clients to address legal issues in relation to different areas of corporate law, especially in the foreign direct investment, personal data protection and cybersecurity fields.  Clients including financial institutions, IT companies, and manufacturing enterprises turn to Judy to provide them with customized legal opinions and advice.

Based on an extensive number of cases and on-going study of new laws and regulations, Judy has accumulated immense practical experience in cross-border transactions involving China, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment and personal information protection.

Before joining Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, Judy worked for two other domestic law firms for more than 3 years.

  • Advised many multinational companies and domestic companies on data protection and other general matters.
  • Advised a globally prominent information services company in connection with a big data processing services agreement in China.
  • Advised a European manufacturer of paper and pulp products on data security and retention obligations arising under Chinese law.
  • Advised a US industrial products manufacturer in the China aspects of its acquisition of a manufacturing target company including a subsidiary manufacturing solar panel components in Shanghai.
  • Advised a US industrial products manufacturer in the restructuring of its ownership of its China manufacturing subsidiary in Shanghai.
  • Counsel to a US-based internet platform developer in a complex local management buyout of the assets of one of its operating subsidiaries in China.
  • Represented a public diversified manufacturing company in its acquisition of a China-based designer, manufacturer and provider of cable assemblies and related interconnect components to the medical equipment and device industry from a UK-based private equity fund.
