Heuking advises Deutsche Private Equity on the sale of its majority stake in SERCOO Group to Elevion Group

September, 2023 - Germany

A team led by Hamburg-based Private Equity partner Dr. Peter Christian Schmidt legally advised funds advised by DPE Deutsche Private Equity Management III GmbH on selling their majority stake in SERCOO Group to Elevion Group, a technical building equipment and energy service provider. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

As an independent investment firm, DPE invests in medium-sized companies in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and uses its capital to promote the growth of companies and the development of innovations. Since its establishment in 2007, DPE has invested in more than 40 companies, supporting them in 100 add-on acquisitions and in creating more than 5,160 new jobs.

In 2014, Deutsche Private Equity acquired a stake in then BU Bücker & Essing GmbH, a SERCOO Group company specializing in the overhaul and repair of stationary industrial engines with a focus on co-generation units. Eight companies have been successfully acquired and integrated since then.

SERCOO, based in Lingen, is a leading single-source provider for operators of biogas plants and co-generation units as well as for engine technology, thus significantly contributing to expanding an independent and decentralized energy supply and the sustainable reduction of carbon emissions. The group employs some 400 people and aims to generate total revenue of about EUR 96 million in 2023.

Headquartered in Jena, Elevion Group Germany is a member of Elevion Group B.V. with more than 4,700 employees in twelve countries. Elevion specializes in integrated energy services and climate protection solutions.
