Interview with ALRUD Partner Margarita Egiazarova for RBC Industries

September, 2024 - Moscow, Russia

ALRUD Law Firm Partner Margarita Egiazarova shared in an interview with RBC Industries insights on protecting business interests in modern conditions and effective employee motivation.

Key points from the interview:

  • One of the significant trends is the increase in labor disputes, which is a natural result of economic changes. Courts are starting to play the role of quasi-lawmakers: recently, many rulings of the Constitutional Court of Russia have been quickly integrated into the norms of the Labor Code.

  • There is a clear tightening in approaches to dismissals overall. Even the slightest violations can lead to employee reinstatement. This approach by the courts can be seen as a form of social justice, aimed at protecting employees from unfair dismissals.

  • Participation in quasi-trade unions by employees is on the rise, which increases the risks of collective lawsuits, especially among middle management staff.

  • Employee retention is a critical issue in fields like IT, technical industries, and sectors requiring deep expert knowledge.

  • Financial incentives are no longer sufficient on their own, although they still play a significant role. Everything matters now: a comfortable office, remote work options, a relaxed dress code, company-provided work equipment, and a non-toxic work environment. The model of financial motivation itself has also evolved.

  • Labor-related issues in transactions are now more relevant than ever. People as assets have become more significant.

  • Another hot topic is transactional bonuses and retention bonuses, not only for top management but also for key personnel.

Margarita also spoke about the unique aspects of being a Partner at ALRUD:

“The status of a partner at ALRUD Law Firm has its own distinctive features, different from partners at many other firms. A partner is not only a leading expert but also a co-owner of the company, which entails a high degree of responsibility for business development, managing key client relationships, and making strategic decisions.”

Margarita became a Partner at ALRUD on September 1st. More details about her appointment can be found here.
